And breathe...May 11, 2015 · Miranda West
We're delighted to announce the release of this year's new titles: Do Breathe and Do Beekeeping.
Author of Do Breathe, Michael Townsend Williams spoke at the Do Lectures in Wales last year. His talk reminded us that while it's fine to take on those massive projects and Do more, we owe it to ourselves to keep our stress levels in check. And the simplest way to achieve this is to improve our breathing. You know, that small but critical thing we forget to do when we feel anxious or overwhelmed? Michael draws from mindfulness, yoga, and meditation. And his holistic approach to 'well-doing' extends to giving tips and tools on improving the way we work by enabling us to better focus, improve our work flow and become more organised. The book features some epic black and white photographs from Jonathan Cherry and surf photographer and filmmaker Mickey Smith.
Over the summer, Michael will be appearing at various festivals around the UK including Also Festival (19-21 June), Camp Bestival (30 July-2 Aug), Wilderness (6-9 Aug) and Bestival (10-13 Sept).
Do Beekeeping: Surely honey – drizzled over a slice of fresh bread or eaten directly from the spoon - is one of life’s great pleasures. But even though having our own beehives would mean our own secret stash, few of us are prepared to take the plunge. Orren Fox, a prodigious 18-year-old (yep, 18!) shows us that beekeeping is not only easier than we think (the bees do all the work) but hugely creative and rewarding. Watch and share this short film about Orren and his beehives here.
And if you’d rather avoid the bees and simply enjoy the honey, there are plenty of honey-based recipes to provide inspiration - including a delicious Feta and Honey Cheesecake from the hugely talented team at Honey & Co. Bee happy!
